Phonathon
Exciting News! Luther announces a $250,000 challenge from an anonymous donor to match increases and new gifts to the Luther College Annual Fund (LCAF), up to $50,000 in each of the next five years. All Luther alumni, parents, and friends are encouraged to support current students with their unrestricted gifts each year, and all increases and new gifts will be eligible for these matching funds.
Phonathon 2008: You Answered the Call!
October 26 - November 18, 2008
Once again, the Luther College Phonathon connected students with alumni, parents, and friends. Over 350 student volunteers gathered in the basement of Loyalty Hall to make nearly 13,000 phone calls, visit with 3,500 Luther fans, and raise nearly $375,000 in gifts and pledges. Their efforts were enhanced by the anonymous donor who made a $250,000 five-year challenge for new gifts and increases in gifts for the Annual Fund. Students enjoyed visiting with alumni, parents, and friends about the challenge, and many donors increased their gifts or made new gifts as a result.
Anyone who has volunteered for Phonathon in the past will remember the contests, prizes, snacks, and treats, and Answering the Call: Phonathon 2008 was no exception. Some volunteers arrived in costume, others came in matching t-shirts. Phonathon is always a great service project for organizations, residence hall socials, and sports teams, and students are energized by their conversations with alumni, parents, and friends.
