Last weekend, eight of us traveled to Amsterdam for two nights. It was a beautiful city, and a weekend didn't do it justice, but we had a lot of fun.
When we got to town, we had no idea where we were going from the train station to our hostel, but we found a map posted outside of the station and meandered over to where we knew it relatively was. I believe we walked around for about an hour and a half before we found the place we were staying.
The following day, we went to the Van Gogh Museum, which was pretty expensive at 14 Euros, but it was definitely worth it. So many ridiculously expensive paintings. It was a great experience, especially for Phoebe, the art major. The rest of the day was spent walking around for the most part. It was worth it just to walk around and see the canals and buildings in the city. We went out on the town later that night.
Finally, on our last day, we basically hung out in the city. We went to the market in the morning. It was a great market - huge and everything was really cheap. We also hung out at a park and went out for Thai food. I walked around with Phil, Phoebe and Kim for the last part of the day while the others went to the city museum. We saw the red light district and exercised our back muscles carrying around all of our stuff.
Finally, we traveled home at about 6 p.m. All of us had a great weekend, and I know I will remember the experience for the rest of my life.
