"Don't Cry Over Spilled Ink"

There will be a gallery event will be held on Friday, April 8th, 2016 at 5:30pm in the Kristin-Wigley Fleming Fine Arts Gallery, in which exhibiting artist Zheng Chongbin will engage in a dialogue about his art with Dr. Julia Andrews, Professor of Art History and Distinguished University Scholar at the Ohio State University (and this year's Gerhard Marcks Lecturer). This event is free and open to the public, all are welcome to attend.

This exhibit, curated by Dr. Yang Wang, post-doctoral fellow in Chinese Art History at Luther College during the 2015-2016 academic year, contains a collection of contemporary Chinese Art which coincides with two courses that Dr. Wang is teaching this semester: Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art and Global Currents, Local Responses: Art in the 21st Century. The group exhibition will include several large-scale ink and ink-inspired paintings, along with a selection of video pieces. All of the art is currently on display is on loan to Luther College through the generous assistance of Dr. Kuiyi Shen, Professor of Asian Art History at University of California San Diego.

The exhibited artists include the following: Li Huai, Chen Chieh-jen, Wang Dongling, Qiu Deshu, Pan Gongkai, Lu Fusheng, Zheng Chongbin, Zou Cao, and Li (Lily) Chen.
