Aaron Lurth holds a B.A. from Luther College and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa, where he was a Virgil M. Beall Graduate Fellow in Photography. He currently serves as head of the department of Visual Media and teaches photography at Luther College. While he was a student at Luther, Aaron studied in Malta, where he created a photo documentary, later used by the Red Cross, that investigated refugee camps on the island. Aaron has worked as a digital photo lab technician and as the Operations Manager of the Photography Department at the University of Iowa. For the past nine years, he has been a photographer for the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) at AirVenture – the world’s largest air show. He has shot marketing campaigns for Luther College and was the photographer for the Cedar Rapids Kernals, the minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. He participated in a panel discussion at the Society for Photographic Education conference, and he has presented his work as part of group and solo exhibitions at a number of galleries, including Drewlowe Gallery at the University of Iowa; Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri; Yeiser.
