Spring 2017 Student Work/Intern Positions

The Fine Arts Collection is looking for one Student Work Manager/Web Contents Manager Trainee, one Student Photographer Trainee, and one Curatorial Intern for Spring 2017. Below is a list of information regarding the position, including a short job description and hours that need to be available in your schedule.

Student Work Manager/Web Contents Manager Trainee
***A successful applicant will continue on as the Student Work Manager/Web Contents Manager for the 2017-2018 year.***

Job Description —

  • Perform various tasks for both the Luther College Fine Arts Collection and Luther Galleries.
  • Shadow the current Student Work Manager/Web Contents Manager to learn responsibilities of the position(s)
  • Learn and develop skills with Reason/Collective Access
  • Familiarize self with the Collection
  • Assist with the check in/out of objects to faculty and staff.
  • May receive additional projects on an as-needed basis.
  • [Museum or Collection/Arts Management experience preferred]
  • Note: Must have Work Study hours available.

Availability —

2 hours per week, must be available Tuesday/Thursday mornings before 2:30 p.m. (preferably between 12:15-2:15 p.m.). Specific hours to be arranged. Freshman or sophomore standing preferred.

Student Photographer Trainee
***A successful applicant will continue on as the Student Photographer for the 2017-2018 year.***

Job Description

  • Perform various tasks for both the Luther College Fine Arts Collection and Luther Galleries.
  • Shadow the current Student Photographer to learn responsibilities of the position(s)
  • Photograph shows/exhibitions on an as-needed basis
  • Familiarize self with the Collection
  • Edit and upload images to Flickr and object records
  • Master basic photography skills of 2D and 3D objects
  • [Previous photography and Photoshop experience preferred]
  • Note: Must have Work Study hours available.

Availability —

2 hours per week, must be available Tuesday/Thursday mornings before 12:30 p.m. Specific hours to be arranged. Freshman or sophomore standing preferred.

Curatorial Intern
Job Description —

  • Develop curatorial experience through a project with Seed Savers
  • Assist with other FAC curatorial projects as needed (including, but not limited to the Alumni Show, campus displays, etc.)
  • [Museum or Collection Management experience preferred]
  • Note: This position is UNPAID.

Availability —

This is a 2-credit internship, 72-hour internship over the course of the semester (approximately 5 hours per week). Must have availability on Tuesday/Thursday. Specific hours to be arranged.
