Winneshiek County GIS

Winneshiek County is seeking to fill a new work study position in the County Information Technology Area. This position assists in performing helpdesk support which will include troubleshooting software, hardware, communication problems, simple programming, and helpdesk duties. This position will also assist in configuring microcomputers, assisting in cable installations, performing inventories, correcting hardware malfunctions, and restoring files. Helping Services for Northeast Iowa

As part of the Helping Services team, the person in this position will work with administrative and program staff, providing office/secretarial support up to 10 hours per week. This position will begin January 2015. Duties include data entry, printing, photocopying, and processing print jobs. Other duties may be assigned based on the student’s abilities and aptitude. Applicants should be computer literate in Word and Excel. Training will be provided for the use of our donor database program. Accuracy and dependability are vital, and confidentiality is required. Students would need to have transportation to get to and from the Helping Services office, and be eligible to work off campus. An interest in the social services field is helpful but not required, as the student will be working around issues of domestic violence, child abuse prevention, substance abuse prevention and mentoring. Nisse Preschool

Nisse Preschool is now hiring students to staff our extended care for 2015 J-term & Spring semester. This program is offered Monday through Friday from 3-6 p.m. Your primary responsibilities would be supervising and playing/interacting with kids ranging from three to five years of age, as well as end-of-the day cleaning. Priority will be given to education majors and/or those with childcare experience, all applicants will be considered. CPR/First Aid certification is a plus. Seed Savers Exchange

Seed Savers Exchange is seeking to fill three federal work study positions, each to work 8-10 hours/week between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday for part or all of the Spring, Fall, and January terms. Work study positions will assist in the seed lab, tissue culture lab, and seed bank. Primary duties will include setting up germination tests, conducting seed moisture content tests, inventorying seed samples, preparing seed distributions, and washing dishes. Additional duties may include sowing seeds, pollinating plants, planting transplants, and light gardening. Attention to detail, punctuality, reliability, and good verbal communication skills are a must. A background in biology, botany, horticulture, or other life sciences is a plus. Spectrum Network - Material Handler and/or Store Clerk

The Spectrum Network is in need of individuals to assist in the Spectrum Thrift Store in Decorah. Duties will include handling, sorting and preparing items for display in Spectrum's thrift stores. The Bookkeeping/Office/Marketing work study assists with providing support to the Administrative office and all other departments as needed to further the mission, values and goals of The Spectrum Network. Winneshiek County Recycling

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department has several work study positions available. Basic daily job tasks include material sorting, maintaining production area organization, and frequent interaction with the general public. The facility is open from 6:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and we will consider running alternative hours to accommodate your class schedules. Several students carpooling together at one time outside of regular class time would work well. Students with Facebook, Twitter, and other electronic and written communication skills are encouraged to apply, too, as we have some opportunities for some of you to participate in the waste reduction education part of the program. This is ideal work experience for Environmental Science majors, but all majors are encouraged to apply. Additionally, students with exceptional computer skills may assist the County Recycling Center with coordinated tasks involving the Winneshiek County IT Dept.
