Additional Scholarships for Returning Students
Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services
Two scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded to Lutheran students pursuing undergraduate degrees in any area of service to people with developmental disabilities. Applicant must be current sophomore or junior, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be an active, communicant member of a Lutheran Church. Application materials can be secured by sending an e-mail to theuer@blhs.org . Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2009.
Soroptimist International of the Americas NCR Scholarship
One $2,000 scholarship is available to a female student entering post-graduate education in 2009. Applicant must be a US Citizen, reside in IA, MN, NE, ND or SD or attend college in one of these states. Preference is given to those who will be pursuing programs of study in Public Service, fields considered to be non-traditional fields for women, and International Studies. Essay contest open to full-time, female students. The top prize for this competition is $5,000 with several smaller prizes being awarded. Additional information and applications are available at www.iwf.org . The deadline to complete the essay is December 1, 2008.
Art Scholarship Competition
This is a scholarship competition for students enrolled at a Midwestern Regional public or private college or university with an interest in the visual arts. Undergraduate Academic Business Scholarship

Institue for Humane Studies
Master of Fine Arts: IHS Film & Fiction Scholarships award up to $10,000 for tuition and expenses. Open to all students who will be pursuing a Master of Fine Arts full-time in the 2009-2010 school year. More information is available at www.TheIHS.org/mfa. Undergraduate and Graduate Studies: The Humane Studies Fellowships award up to $12,000 to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, including the fields of law and journalism, who are exploring the principles, practices, and institutions necessary to a free society through their academic work. Open to all students persuing a degree full-time in the 2009-2010 academic year. The deadline to apply is December 31, 2008. www.TheIHS.org/hsf.
2009 Glenn Miller Scholarship Competition
This scholarship is open to high school seniors and first year college students who intend to make music a central part of their future. Applicants can compete for either vocal or instrumental scholarships of up to $4,500. Stop by the Financial Aid Office for an application. Application deadline is March 15, 2009.
Institue of Management Accountants
This scholarship program is for IMA student members pursuing study in accounting or finance as an undergraduate student. Scholarships will range from $1,000 to $2,500. Applications are availble online at www.imanet.org/scholarships or you may pick up an application in the Financial Aid office. Application deadline is February 15, 2009.
Carver Scholars Program
Created by the Roy J. Carver Trust, this program recognizes students who have overcome social and/or economic barriers to attend college. The program is open to students entering their junior year in the Fall of 2009. Qualified candidates must be an Iowa resident, file a FAFSA and demonstrate a high level of financial need and maintain a 2.8 cumulative grade point average. Each participating school usually receives one Carver Scholar per year. The application process begins October 1, 2008 and continues through April 1, 2009. Datatel Scholars Foundation
The Datatel Scholars Foundation has opened its 2009-2010 scholarship application process. Students must be at least 6 credits to apply for any one of three scholarships.
