The Luther College men’s tennis team went back to the courts after defeating St. John’s in the morning and knocked off a second straight foe from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), easing past Hamline by a 7-2 count.  The Norse used a doubles sweep to gain control of the match before winning in straight sets at the middle four singles slots.

Nick Mozena and James Ayer were quick starters for the second straight match, winning (8-3) over Dylan Sperry and Jesse Bragg at No. 2.  Ramesh Karki and Quinn Foley fought off a match point for the second time on the day, eventually rallying to win (9-7) against David Croonquist and Nathan Tretsven at No. 1.  Samuel Cychosz and Aaron Ford completed the sweep by holding off Hamline’s Sam Peterson and Derek Lutz to win (8-6) at No. 3.

Torstein Jystad made it 4-0 by racing to a (6-1, 6-0) victory over Sperry at No. 4 before Matt Bellio clinched the match with a (6-3, 6-3) win against Tretsven at No. 2.  Ayer trailed early in his match, but pulled out a first set tie-breaker on his way to a (7-6 (2), 6-2) win, defeating Lutz at No. 3.  Foley closed out the scoring for Luther with a (6-3, 6-4) decision over Tyler Antil at No. 5. Hamline’s Croonquist edged Mozena (6-4, 7-6 (4)) at No. 1.  Matt Knutson won his first set for the Norse at No. 6 before falling (1-6, 6-4, (13-11)) to Bragg.
