It’s impossible to walk across Luther College’s scenic campus without being in touch with the musical life of the college community. This time of year, the sounds of students rehearsing for upcoming holiday performances evidence the vital part music plays in a Luther liberal arts education.
The music department offers countless opportunities for students of all majors to be involved in the music program. The department’s regular semester courses, most January-term courses, and private music lessons are available to all Luther students. More than half of the 1,000 students receiving private lessons each semester are non-music majors. All talented music students are encouraged to audition for a music scholarship in their best discipline, regardless of their intended majors.
We invite you and your parents to visit campus, Thursday, November 29, for our Music Visit Event, culminating with the Christmas at Luther concert. Based on how much time you have, you can arrive in the morning, in the afternoon, or just in time for dinner and/or the concert.
A note about scholarship auditions: You are strongly encouraged to audition for a music scholarship during the Music Visit Event. Your audition will be scheduled according to your choice of activities throughout the day. Please click here to review audition requirements.
