Norse fans were biting their nails tonight as the ladies squared off in an intense match-up with the Kohawks from Coe College. After two regulation halves of strong defense and clutch shooting by both teams, the game needed to be decided in overtime, with the score tied at 68-68. In the five extra minutes, Coe outscored Luther 8-4 en route to a 76-72 victory.
The Kohawks lived by the three tonight connecting on 12-of-24 attempts. Mickey Hansche led the team with an 8-of-15 performance from beyond the arch. Hansche lead all scorers with 24.
Tayler Jenks, Taylor Johnson and Nellie Nelson lead the Luther offense with a combined 46 points. Jenks recorded a career high 16, Johnson tallied 18, while Nelson chipped in 12. Meagan Koepnick dished out a career high seven assists.
With the loss the Norse moved to 2-9 in conference play and 11-11 overall, while the Kohawks improved to 8-3 in league play and 13-9 overall. The Norse are back in action this Saturday when they head to Waverly to take on the Wartburg Knights. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
