Luther hosted its first invitational in the new pool with an emphasis on short races. Gustavus Adolphus, Coe College, and Iowa Lakes Community College joined the Norse for an event that did not calculate team scores.
Clare Slagel led the Norse with four individual titles. Slagel won the 200 freestyle, 50 and 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle. She also swam the first leg of Luther's first place 200 medley relay. Erin Connolly, Lexi Scharmer and Emily Anderson swam the final three legs of this race.
Connolly posted three first place finishes. She touched the wall first in the 50 and 100 breaststroke and the 100 IM.
Anderson also posted an individual first place finish in the 50 butterfly. Zoe Johnson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Her 1-meter point total was an NCAA III national cut mark for 11 dives.
The Norse will compete next weekend at the Grinnell Invitational that will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 18 and 19.
