Luther lost a hard fought 71-68 decision to Viterbo University this afternoon.
A three-point basket by the V-Hawks Matt Turba, who finished the afternoon with 13 points, gave the V-Hawks what proved to be their final lead of the game with 16:22 left in the first half. The Norse battled back and tied the game three times in the final six minutes of the first frame, but trailed 33-27 at the intermission. Viterbo extended its lead to 12 points in the second half and hung on as Luther pulled to within one (68-69) with 14 seconds left in the game following a Michael Crocker layup. The Norse missed a three-point attempt with five ticks left on the clock that would have given them a one point advantage.
John Androus led the Norse attack with 18 points. Jake Martin recorded a double-double scoring 11 points and collecting 12 rebounds. Nathan Meyer, who was 4-for-4 from behind the arch, tallied 14 points. Crocker finished the afternoon with 12.
The loss drops Luther's overall record to 4-3. Viterbo improved to 6-4.
