The inside duo of Nellie Nelson and Taylor Johnson scored half of Luther's points as the Norse rolled to an 85-57 victory over Viterbo University this afternoon.
Nelson and Johnson put up identical numbers scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Lyndsi Woolems also tallied double digits with 12 thanks to a 3-for-4 performance from behind the three-point line.
Luther shot 50 percent for the game and dominated the boards 49-29. Following a layup by Nelson with 16:30 remaining in the first half that gave the Norse a one-point advantage, the Norse never trailed the rest of the way. Viterbo shot 36.4 percent from the field that included a 2-of-20 performance from three-point land.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 6-1. Viterbo fell to 1-7. The Norse will play their final home game prior to the Christmas break this Tuesday, Dec. 10 when they will host Martin Luther College at 5:30 p.m.
