Day One Recap: Luther sits in second place with 176 points after day one of the 2014 Liberal Arts Championships. Franklin College leads the field of 10 teams with 212 points, while Morningside College is third with 151.
Two second place finishes were posted by the Norse this evening. Jason Orvis finished second in the 50 freestyle (21.30), edged at the wall by Cole Malin of Morningside (21.12).
Orvis also swam the first leg of the 400 medley relay team that collected silver. Jacob Sund, Jon Hagen and Sam Weinberg completed the team clocked at 3:33.66.
David Carius (5th - 4:50.75), Weinberg (6th - 4:51.86) and Sam Raiche (7th - 4:56.68) advanced to the finals of the 500 freestyle. Sund (6th - 1:59.24) and Hagen (8th - 2:02.89) did the same in the 200 IM.
The 200 freestyle relay foursome of Orvis, Sund, Hagen and Ryley Kramka started tonight's action placing fourth (1:26.79).
Chandler Roberson was fifth (4:30.53).
Jason Orvis also stepped onto the medal stand placing second in the 100 backstroke (52.59).
Both the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay placed second. Orvis, Sund, Jon Hagen and Ryley Kramka (1:36.73) swam the 200 medley relay, while Sam Weinberg, Sam Raiche, Seth Vander Horst and Carius finished the evening in the 800 freestyle (7:10.11).
Hagen and Weinberg advanced to the finals of the 100 fly and 200 freestyle respectively. Hagen placed fifth (53.48) and Weinberg placed fourth (1:44.48).
Kellen Glynn in the 200 fly (7th - 2:04.01), Raymond Dulaney in the 200 breastroke (6th - 2:15.00), David Carius in the 1,650 freestyle (4th - 16:53.76) and Sam Weinberg in the 1,650 freestyle (8th - 17:32.24).
The 400 freestyle relay foursome of Weinberg, Carius, Ryley Kramka and Orvis capped off the three-days of competition with a fourth place finish (3:12.69).
