Luther won a shoot out here in the Regents Center defeating UW-Platteville 90-86. Both teams had four players reach double digits with the majority of the points coming at the free throw line. The Pioneers were 21-of-24 from the charity stripe, while the Norse were 24-of-32. Luther won the battle of the boards 49-40 and was led by Nellie Nelson and Haley Kirkpatrick who grabbed nine and eight respectively.
Taylor Nelson led the offensive attack producing 18 points in the second stanza en route to a game high 23 for the night. Lyndsi Woolems tallied 13 and Nelson and Logan Hjerleid both chipped in 11.
The Pioneers were led by Rachel Cropp's 21 point effort. Cropp was 8-for-10 from the free throw line and 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 4-1. Platteville fell to 4-2.
The Norse will return to action this Saturday when they will travel to Naperville, Ill., to face North Central College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
