The women's cross country team finished second at the 42nd Annual All-American Invitational. The Norse posted a team total of 54 points. St. Ambrose University won its first ever All-American team title with 45 points. Macalester College was third with 60, followed by the Luther Alumni with 94 and Hamline University with 97.
All-American Tricia Serres won the individual title with a time of 18:17 on the 5k course. She was followed by Luther assistant coach Emma Spoon who crossed the finish line in 18:46.8. Maclester's Kimber Meyer was third with a time of 19:00. With her individual title, Serres became the sixth Norse runner to win an All-American title and first since Janet Dobyns in 2007.
Completing Luther's top seven was Jayne Cole (5th - 19:06.3), Maggie Pierson (9th - 19:35.6), Sarah Owens (19th - 20:24.3), Sophie Ristau (20th - 20:25.5), Maddie Lambert (22nd - 20:29.4) and Anna Burke (23rd - 20:29.9).
Luther will return to action on Oct. 4, when it will race in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. The race will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will take place at Whitetail Golf Course, Colfax. Wis.
