John Androus drove the length of the floor with just 6.5 second left on the clock and scored the game winner with a layup as the buzzer sounded, giving Luther a 72-70 victory over Loras here in the Regents Center.
Trailing by 16 at the midway point of the second half, Loras battled back and tied the game 64-64 with 2:51 remaining. Androus, who finished with 14 points, scored six of Luther's final eight points down the stretch. His 14-point effort leaves him eight shy of his 1,000th career point.
Jake Martin was the only other Norse to reach double digits scoring a game high 15. Martin also led the team with nine rebounds.
Loras was led by Mirko Grcic who tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Nathaniel Smith and Bobby Harmening also reached double digits with 14 and 13 respectively.
The win snapped a four-game skid for the Norse and gives them a league record of 1-4, 9-7 overall. Loras fell to 3-2 in the IIAC, 10-6 overall.
Luther travels to Coe College this Saturday for a game that will begin at 4:00 p.m.
