Luther came from behind to defeated Simpson 3-2 tonight in the Regents Center. Trailing 2-0, the Norse won three straight sets to secure their first conference win of the season. The Storm won sets one and two by scores of 25-21, 26-24. Luther responded with set victories of 25-17, 25-12 and 15-10.
Three Norse were credited with double digit kill totals. Leah Broderick led this trio with 13, followed by Natalee Johnson with 12 and Hannah Wilson with 11. Broderick also was solid at the net credited with six block assists. Lindsey Ryan dished out 40 assists and was also credited with three of Luther's 10 ace serves. McKinzy Lohberger led the team in this category with four, while Carly Rusek was also credited with three.
The win gives Luther a league record of 1-1, 8-7 overall. Simpson's four-match win streak came to an end and it is now 1-1 in the IIAC, 8-2 overall.
Luther's next action will be this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28, when it will be at the NACC-IIAC Border Battle. This two-day get together between the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference and the Iowa Conference will take place at Just A Game Fieldhouse, Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
