It was a record setting afternoon as Luther rolled to a 108-93 victory over North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Luther tied the single game school record for most points, and set new single game records for most assists (30) and most rebounds (80). The two teams fell three points shy of tying the single game record for most points combined.
The school record for most points in a single game was set during the 1988-89 season against Upper Iowa University. Luther's 30 assists this afternoon was six better than the former record of 24 set against Buena Vista University in 1995. Luther's 80 rebounds was 20 more than the 60 collected against Iowa Wesleyan in 1984.
Five Norse tallied double digits led by Taylor Johnson and Logan Hjerleid who both produced double-doubles. Johnson's 25 points and 12 rebounds were both game highs. Hjerleid tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds. Nellie Nelson (18), Haley Kirkpatrick (11) and Tayler Jenks (10) completed the list of double digit scorers.
Of Luther's 45 field goals, only four came from behind the three-point line. North Central on the flip side, shot 43 treys connecting on 10, en route to 35 percent shooting for the game.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 5-1, while North Central fell to 3-2. The Norse return to action one week from today when they will travel to Viterbo University. This non-conference game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
