The Luther women’s tennis team was back on the courts for its second match of the day on Tuesday, March 26 this time playing against Hamline University. The Norse came out firing, only dropping one game in doubles, on the way to a 9-0 shutout victory.
Katy Lindstrom and Annie Whiteley picked up an (8-0) shutout against Cassie Rammage and Shamara Duwearatchi while Hailey Johnson and Adriana DePaolis did the same at No. 3 with an (8-0) win over Elizabeth Hughes and Leeanna Manthe. Elise Allen and Maggie Helms rolled to an (8-1) win at No. 1 against Carissa Wallerich and Rachael Barnes.
Leading 3-0, Allen, White-Baer, Helms, and Lindstrom all won in straight sets at the top four singles slots to make it 7-0. Allen was a (6-0, 6-3) winner against Wallerich at No. 1, and White-Baer won (6-1, 6-0) over Rammage at No. 2. Helms beat Barnes (6-2, 6-2), and Lindstrom defeated Emily Buter by a (6-0, 6-1) tally at No. 4.
Megan Wachholz saw her first varsity action of the week and cruised to a (6-1, 6-1) decision against Duwearatchi at No. 5. Olivia Heitz also played her first varsity match of the week and rallied to win (2-6, 6-3, (10-3) over Hughes at No. 6, completing the 9-0 sweep for the Norse.
