Luther set a single game school record with 15 three-pointers en route to a 95-85 victory over Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. The Norse were 15 of 28 (53.6%) from down town. Earlier this year, Luther tied the old mark of 14 treys that was established against Pacific Lutheran on Dec. 30, 2000, during its 71-69 road victory over UW-River Falls. The Norse have already set the single season school record for three pointers and with tonight's total they have made 197.
Cale Austin led the Norse attack with a career high 28 points. Austin knocked down six treys, one shy of the single game school record. John Androus tallied 16, while Jake Martin and Nathan Meyer both chipped in 12.
The win was the sixth in a row for the Norse who are now tied with Buena Vista for third place in the league standings with a mark of 6-4. The Norse are 14-7 overall, while the Beavers fell to 11-10. The victory also secured a spot in the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament.
Luther returns to action next Wednesday, Feb. 12 when it will host Coe College (1-9, 9-12) at 8:00 p.m.
