Basketball fans in the Regents Center were treated to an great Division III basketball game tonight. It took and extra five minutes of play before a winner was determined and unfortunately for Norse fans UW-Stout secured an 88-83 victory.
Four Norse tallied double digits led by Jake Martin who produced a double-double with 20 points and a game high 13 rebounds. John Androus and Bradley Wilkins both tallied 17 and Cale Austin was credited with 13. Austin did most of his damaged from behind the three-point line connecting on 4-of-7 attempts.
Stout was led by Jimmy Whitehead who led all scorers with 24 points. Whitehead also made a three-pointer with four second left in regulation to send the game into the extra frame.
The loss levels Luther's overall record to 2-2. Stout improved to 3-1.
The Norse will travel to Nebraska Wesleyan University for the Snyder Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30. The Norse will play Barclay College (KS) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday also at 5:30 p.m.
