Thanks to seven first place finishes Luther captured the team title of the Carleton College Meet of Hearts Invitational this afternoon in Northfield, Minn. The Norse posted a team total of 168.5 and were followed by Carleton (140), Gustavus Adolphus (139) and Hamline (118.5).
Individual first place finishes were recorded by Sarah Sindelar in the 55 meter dash (7.78), Tricia Serres in the 800 (2:16.56), Maggie Pierson in the Mile (5:20.02), Jayne Cole in the 3,000 (10:33), Gabrielle Murphy in the triple jump (33-11 1/4), and Addy Rickels in the long jump (16-7 1/4).
Serres time in the 800 is the second fastest in Luther history and currently ranks first in the Iowa Conference and 16th in the NCAA III. Rickels distance ranks 10th on Luther's all-time list.
Luther also posted first place finishes in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays. The foursome of Jenna McGee, Marea Holkesvik, Erin Kammer and Kelsey Strand were clocked at 1:50.52 in the 4 x 200. Holkesvik, Annie Klepper, Serres and Strand won the 4 x 400 with a time of 4:10.62.
Throwers Jackie Hoyme and Amanda Dunn posted top-10 marks in the shot put (38-4 1/4) and weight throw (44-11 1/2) respectively. Hoyme's mark in the shot put ranks 10th, while Dunn moved to third all-time in the weight throw.
The Norse will travel to University of Northern Iowa on Friday, Feb. 15 for the Dome Open. Competition will begin at 1:00 p.m.
