Facing the University of Dubuque for the second time six days, Luther split the season series, defeating the Spartans 90-64 in the Regents Center. On Monday night, the Spartans defeated the Norse a 69-55.
The Norse held a 38-31 halftime advantage and proceeded to shoot 53 percent in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 52-33 en route to the victory.
Taylor Johnson and Nellie Nelson both posted double-doubles. Johnson tallied 23 points, while Nelson poured in a career high 28. They both collected 11 rebounds.This is Johnson's 21st career double-double and the seventh for Nelson.
Meagan Koepnick also reached double digits with 17, one shy of her career high. Lyndsi Woolems and Logan Hjerleid chipped in nine and eight points respectively.
Dubuque was led by Mollie Whiting's 26-point effort and Meggie Schmidt who tallied 16.
The victory gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 3-5, 11-8 overall. Dubuque is also 3-5, 13-6 overall.
The Norse return to action Wednesday, Jan. 30 when they will travel to Loras College for a game that will begin at 6:00 p.m.
