Day One Results - Luther is in third place after the first day of the Grinnell Invitational. The Norse (345) trail University of Nebraska-Omaha (550) and Gustavus Adolphus (518). Grinnell (303) is in fourth place.
Clare Slagel was the only swimmer to post a top-three finish. Slagel won the 100 backstroke and was second in the 100 freestyle. She also swam the first leg of the 400 medley relay that placed third. Erin Connolly, Lexi Scharmer and Laura Boran completed this foursome.
2013 Grinnell Invite Friday results
Day Two Results - Luther wrapped up the two-day Grinnell Invitational in third place from the field of 11 teams. The Norse posted a point total of 759. U of Nebraksa-Omaha won the team title with 1,058 points, followed by Gustavus Adolphus with 1,000.
Clare Slagel posted two top-three finishes this afternoon. Slagel won the 200 freestyle clocked at 1:58.48. This time ranks fifth on Luther's all-time list. Slagel placed second in the 200 backstroke by the slimist of margins. Aliss Tinklenberg of Gustavus touched the wall in 2:07.13, while Slagel was clocked at 2:07.27.
Slagel, Connolly, Lexi Scharmer and Blocker started the day with a third place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:51.44). Slagel, Boran, Storey and Connolly wrapped up the meet with a third place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.08).
Luther will host Coe College Saturday, Jan. 26 in what will be the final dual meet to be contested in the current Luther pool. Action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
