Luther won its fifth game in a row posting an 81-63 victory over the visiting Knights of Martin Luther College. Following a jumper by Taylor Johnson that gave Luther a 4-2 lead two minutes into the game, the Norse never trailed the rest of the way.
Johnson and Nellie Nelson paced the Norse offensive attack producing 18 and 21 points respectively. The duo took turns dominating a half, as Nelson scored 18 in the first half and Johnson scored 12 in the second. Amanda Busta, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, also reached double digits with 10. Meagan Koepnick was one point shy of double figures with nine.
Luther shot 42 percent, while holding Martin Luther to just 34 percent for the evening. Luther also dominated the boards 57-33.
Luther is off to its best start since the 2005-06 campaign and is now 7-1 overall. Martin Luther fell to 3-5.
The Norse return to action this Friday, Dec. 13 when they will travel to University of Northwestern - St. Paul for a non-conference game that will begin at 5:30 p.m.
