Coe College swept the four-game series after defeating the Norse 2-1 (8) and 6-3 this afternoon in Decorah.
In game one, two errors by the Norse in the top of the eighth led to both of Coe's runs. The Norse responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning, when Eric Pittman drove in Austen Graham with a double. Graham lead-off the inning with a single.
Norse pitcher Alec Knop (1-2) and Kohawk pitcher Connor Alberhasky (2-1) both pitched well. Knop went eight full innings and allowed four hits, walked three and struck out three. Alberhasky also went the distance spreading five hits, walked two and struck out five.
In the nightcap, Coe opened a close game up scoring four runs on two hits in the top half of the fifth frame. The Norse managed a run in the second, third and fifth.
Matt McKinney (1-2) pitched six full innings allowing six runs on six hits, walked four and struck out five.
The two losses drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 3-5, 7-9 overall. Coe improved to 7-1 in league play, 12-6 overall.
The Norse are scheduled to travel to Wartburg College for a double header. First pitch will take place at 3:30 p.m.
