Central College posted its first Iowa Conference victory of the season, an 81-69 decision over Luther in Kuyper Gymnasium, Pella, Iowa this afternoon.
The Dutch blistered the nets shooting 50 percent in the first 20 minutes of action and held a 39-27 halftime lead. The Norse battled back to within four points (56-52) with a little over nine minutes left in the contest, but it proved to be as close as the Norse would get to the Dutch the rest of the game.
Taylor Johnson recorded her 19th career double-double scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Mullen Wacker came off the bench and scored a career high 16 points. Carrie Kilen also reached double figures with 10 and collected nine rebounds, both career highs.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 1-2, 9-5 overall. Central improved to 1-2, 8-6 overall.
The Norse return to action Wednesday, Jan. 16 when they will host the Beavers of Buena Vista University at 6:00 p.m.
