The Luther women’s tennis team finished out its home dual meet schedule for the fall season with a pair of 9-0 victories. The Norse opened its match with Loras by playing singles and got rolling by winning all six matches in straight sets. The squad then followed up with a doubles sweep to finish out the match.
Sarah Christopherson got things rolling with a (6-1, 6-0) win against Amanda Sharkey at No. 6 singles. Her victory was followed by hard fought wins from Lola White-Baer and Caroline Treis at the top two singles spots. White-Baer performed well in a (6-2, 6-2) win against Elizabeth Dickhut while Treis persevered (6-3, 6-3) against Jessica Dickhut. Lauren Welch stepped up into the No. 3 slot and came away with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Caroline Rainey. Hailey Johnson made her varsity singles debut for the fall season and was a (6-2, 6-2) winner against Carrie Crabill at No. 4. Addy Riley, playing in her first varsity match, completed the singles sweep with a decisive (6-1, 6-2) win over Est Mungai at No. 5.
White-Baer and Welch paired up for the first time at No. 1 doubles, defeating the Dickhut sisters by an (8-5) margin. Treis and Riley also partnered for the first time and came away with an (8-4) victory at No. 2, defeating Rainey and Mungai. A third new Norse tandem of Christopherson and Madisen Crow beat Crabill and Rebecca Weglarz (8-3) at No. 3 to close out the match.
