  • Time: 12:00 pm
  • Location: Northfield, Minn. - St. Olaf College

Luther may have run its best race of the season this afternoon and it couldn't have come at a better time, as the Norse finished third from the field of 26 teams at the NCAA III Central Regional. St. Olaf College hosted today's race.

St. Olaf won the team title with 51 points, followed by Central with 61 and Luther with 127. The top two teams earn automatic berths to the National Championships held one week from today in Hanover, Ind. Luther will find out tomorrow if they will be one of 16 at-large berths to the national finale.

Individually, Marty Mitchell, Austin Bauer and Alex Rigdon all earned all-region honors by finishing in the top-25 from the field of 160 runners. Mitchell placed seventh (25:12.37), Bauer was ninth (25:18.92) and Rigdon was 31st (26:02.52). This is the third time both Mitchell and Bauer have earned this honor, while Rigdon is making his first appearance on the all-region team.

Completing the Norse seven was Isaac Jensen (38th - 26:16.52), Brock Laue (42nd - 26:23.17), Evan Neubauer (46th - 26:26.77) and John Freude (85th - 27:20.92).
