Coe College defeated Luther 4-2 and 5-1 this afternoon here in Decorah.
Entering the top of the fifth, The Kohawks trailed the Norse 2-1. Thanks to four walks, the Kohawks scored three runs on just one hit, en route to the final tally. The Norse pitching staff had a hard time finding the plate as they gave up 11 walks.
In the nightcap, Luther scattered eight hits and scored its lone run in the bottom of the eighth. Severson drove in the run with a double and ended the day going 4-for-7 at the plate.
Danny Smith (1-2) pitched seven full innings. Smith allowed five runs on 10 hits, walked three and struck out one. Andrew Withers did not allow a run and gave up one hit while facing seven batters in the final two frames.
The two losses drops Luther's league record to 3-3, 7-7 overall. Coe improved to 5-1 in the IIAC, 10-6 overall.
These two teams will wrap up the four game series with a double header tomorrow here in Decorah. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
