Luther won its third game in a row in thrilling fashion this afternoon here in Decorah. Trailing 7-6 entering the bottom of the ninth, Chris Reynolds hit a two-run walk-off double, that gave the Norse an 8-7 come-from-behind victory.
Ben Obermann and Ian Fitzgerald got the rally started after being hit by Loras pitcher Spencer Radabaugh. Reynolds drove in the game winning runs with a shot off the left-center field fence, his only hit of the afternoon.
The Norse played catch-up the entire game and trailed by as many as four runs heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Alec Knop (2-2) was credited with the win. Knop pitched five solid innings allowing three runs on four hits, did not issue a walk and struck out four.
Chris Erikson and Ryan Bahnemann were also credited with two RBI each. Erikson drove in runs in the third and sixth frames, while Bahnemann hit a solo home run to left field in the fifth and drove in a run in the sixth. Erikson had three hits as did designated hitter Thomas Weber who was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 4-5, 11-12 overall. Loras fell to 3-6 in league play, 13-11 overall.
The Norse will travel to Central College this Friday and Saturday. Friday's nine inning game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday's double header will begin at 1:00 p.m. Central will be video streaming all three games.
