Central swept the three-game series in Pella after defeating Luther 7-2 this morning. The start time was moved up to 10:15 a.m. due to the forecast of rain later in the afternoon.
Central scored all seven of its runs in the first two frames including five in the second. Luther out hit Central 10-6, and scored a run in the second and one in the ninth.
Thomas Weber and Kevin Bradley were both 2-for-4. Matt Larson hit a lead-off home run to left field in the second.
Matt Reynolds (2-4) was credited with the loss. Reynolds pitched 1 2/3 innings, gave up seven runs on four hits and walked four.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 4-8, 11-15 overall. Central sits atop the league standings with a record of 13-2, 22-5 overall.
Luther will travel to Presentation College on Tuesday, April 17 for a non-conference double header that will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Jordan, Minn. The Norse return home on Friday and Saturday and will host Cornell College.
