The Luther women’s tennis team battled Coe for the third time this season and came up on the short end of a 5-1 score in the championship match of the IIAC AQ Tournament, sending the Kohawks to the NCAA Division III national tournament.
Elise Allen and Katy Lindstrom were in a battle at 4-4 at No. 3 doubles, but then played well down the stretch to pick up an (8-4) victory over Jordan Ferree and Elizabeth Hoffmann to give Luther its lone point of the day. Coe was an (8-2) winner at No. 1 where Michelle Schupbach and Tai Lucero defeated Cami Czech and Katie Howe. Luther’s Cassandra Chalhoub and Lola White-Baer rallied from a 1-7 deficit at No. 2 to within a point of 5-7 before finally falling (8-4) to Jackie Pedersen and Sara Ohlman.
Coe clinched the match with victories at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 singles. Luther finishes the season at 18-12 overall and will likely be ranked in the top 15 of the Central Region at season’s end.
