Women's Tennis - Denison University

Date:April 7, 2012
Results:0-5
Location:Madison, Wis.

A third nationally ranked opponent awaited the Luther women’s tennis team on the second day of the Midwest Invite in Madison, Wisconsin.  The Norse were competitive at several spots, just as the team had been against Gustavus the previous day, but ended up losing a 5-0 decision to the Big Red.  All dual matches were played to decision on the second day of the tournament instead of being played to completion.

Elise Allen and Katy Lindstrom rallied from a 3-6 deficit to knot their match at 7-7 before dropping a hard fought (9-7) decision at No. 3 doubles to Lilianna Broussalian and Courtney Steiner.

The top four singles matches were the only ones on the court and all four spots were very competitive.  Denison earned its final points at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to clinch the match.  Chalhoub lost (7-5, 6-1) to Broussalian at No. 3 while White-Baer dropped a (6-4, 6-3) decision to Katie Westenberger at No. 4.

Allen played outstanding at No. 2 and led her match (7-6, 1-1) against Alex Marcell, a regionally ranked player, when the match was halted.  Cami Czech, once again facing a highly ranked foe, was narrowly trailing (4-6, 4-4) to Sarah Short at No. 1.
