Quinn Foley and Samuel Cychosz quickly pulled out to a big lead and won (8-3) over Kyle Freischlag and Josh Forst at No. 2 doubles. Jystad continued his strong play with a (6-2, 6-0) win at No. 2 singles, defeating Freischlag to put Luther ahead 4-0. Foley clinched the meet with a (7-6 (6), 6-3)) decision against Hendricks at No. 4. Mozena trailed in his opening set at No. 1, but broke serve at the end of the set and cruised in the first set tie-breaker in route to a (7-6 (2), 6-1) win over Harris. Ayer also had to battle from behind in his first set, but pulled out a (7-5, 6-3) win against Colin Schares at No. 3. Bellio won his fourth match of the day, defeating Kahl (6-1, 6-2) at No. 5. Matt Knutson fell behind 4-6, 1-5 and proceeded to fight off multiple match points, rallying for a (4-6, 7-5, (10-4)) victory over Seier at No. 6.
Luther is now 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the IIAC. The Norse have a weekend off from competition and then resume play on Monday, March 19 against Carthage in Orlando, Florida. It will be the first of five matches for the Norse on the squad’s annual spring trip.
