Luther, ranked No. 5 in the NCAA III, increased its overall record to 15-3 after sweeping St. Olaf College this afternoon here in Decorah.

In game one, Becca Girvan (10-2) threw a three-hit shut out. Girvan faced 26 batters striking out 14 and only walking two. During one stretch she retired 10 consecutive batters, seven by strike out. Her 14 strike outs was a single game career high.

Luther took the egg off the scoreboard with three runs in the fourth and added two in the fifth. Mallory Broderick and Elisa Smith both tallied two RBI. Lauran Snyder and Morgan Franklin had multiple hit outings going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Box Score

The Norse scored five runs on 10 hits in the nightcap, scoring once in the third, three in the fourth and one in the sixth. Shari Huber, Kelsey Rose and Paige Comentino all tallied multiple hits. Huber was 3-for-3 and scored twice from the lead-off position. Rose and Comentino were both 2-for-3. Comentino also scored twice.

Rose (4-1) went the distance in the circle, allowing one run on five hits, walked two and struck out five.

The Norse begin Iowa Conference play this Saturday, March 31 when they will host the Dutch of Central College. Central enters this game ranked 7th in the NCAA III. First pitch of this double header is slated for 2:00 p.m. Both games will be video streamed weather permitting.
