The Norse traveled to Loras College for the Duhawk Open this afternoon. At the end of the day, nine wrestlers placed, led by Dalton Brown who was crowned the champion at 157.
Brown posted a record of 4-0 that included a fall (6:55) over Trevor Duke of Upper Iowa University, and a major decision over unattached Kyle Gibson.
#5 Daniel Mendoza (125) and Eric Moreno (165) finished as runner-ups in their respective brackets. Mendoza lost a 4-3 decision to unattached Matt Gurule from the University of Iowa, while Moreno was defeated by the same score by unattached Bryce Lumzy of Upper Iowa University in the title bouts.
Louis Mazzetta posted a record of 5-1 and placed third at 133. He defeated unattached Tanner Schmidt of Upper Iowa University 6-5 in the third place finale.
Other Norse place winners included Nick Pearch (184) fourth, Robert Patino (125) fifth, Brad Jones (133) fifth, Brent Blaser (149) fifth, and Conner Herman (285) fifth.
Luther will wrap up its dual meet schedule at #20 University of Dubuque on Friday, Feb. 10. This match is schedule to begin at 7:00 p.m.
