Luther posted two come-from-behind victories tonight in the Minneapolis Metrodome, defeating St. Mary's University (MN) 2-1 and 6-5.
Trailing 1-0 after five in game one, Ben Obermann started a Luther two-run sixth, with a lead-off home run. Following the Obermann blast, the Norse loaded the bases and scored what proved to be the game winner on a Mitch Obey sacrifice fly.
Alec Knop was credited with the victory. Knop threw the final three innings allowing one run on three hits and striking out six. Danny Smith got the start on the mound and pitched four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Trailing 5-2 entering the top half of the seventh and final frame, Luther scored four runs en route to the victory. The Norse tallied three of their six hits in the seventh, starting with a lead-off triple by Chris Reynolds. Larson, Obey, Peter Sandstedt and Austen Graham all drove in a run.
Augie Lindmark was credited with the victory facing just six batters in the final two innings and striking out two.
The two wins levels Luther's overall record to 7-7, while St. Mary's fell to 8-7.
The Norse will begin Iowa Conference play this weekend when they will travel to Simpson College. Friday's nine inning game will begin at 6:00 p.m. Saturday's double header will start at 1:00 p.m.
