Luther defeated University of Dubuque 6-3 this afternoon here in Decorah. The Norse have won eight in a row and moved to 10-8 in the Iowa Conference 19-15 overall. Dubuque fell to 4-14 in league play, 15-18 overall.
Chris Reynolds had a big day going 4-for-5 and scored twice, from the lead-off slot in the lineup. In the fifth inning, Reynolds hit a solo home run to left-center field with game tied at 2-2.
Matt Larson also had a big afternoon, driving in three runs, while going 2-for-4 at the plate. Larson drove in a run in the third frame and then hit a two-run shot to deep right-center field in the eighth.
Chris Erikson and Andrew Nelson also tallied multiple hit afternoons, while Kevin Bradley and Eric Pittman both drove in one run.
Augie Lindmark (7-1) picked up the win. Lindmark allowed two runs on six hits, walked four and struck out five in seven innings of work. Alec Knop was credited with his second save of the season allowing one run on one hit and striking out three.
The two teams will wrap up the three-game series tomorrow with a double header that is scheduled to beign at 1:00 p.m. With rain in the forecast, a decision of whether to move the games to Sunday starting at 2:00 p.m., will be made in the early morning hours.
