Luther is one win away from matching its best start since the 1983-84 season (15-3) after defeating Cornell 60-48 this afternoon in the Regents Center. The Norse exploded for 35 points in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory. During this stretch, Tyler Wedemeier scored all 12 his points and sparked the Norse defensively with four blocked shots.
Dane Larson led all scorers with 17 and Zach Matos-Pritchard was credited with eight. John Androus and Tim Merritt grabbed eight rebounds each.
Cornell was led by Alex Miller who posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Reggie Greenwood, who entered the game averaging 15 points a game, was the Rams next leading scorer with nine.
The win was the third this week for the Norse and fourth in a row. The victory also keeps Luther atop the Iowa Conference standings with a record of 8-1. The Norse are 14-3 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 25, when it will host Loras College at 8:00 p.m. This game will be video streamed.
