Luther placed third at the Cornell College Matman Invitational this afternoon. The Norse tallied 94.5 points finishing behind Coe with 153 and Cornell with 117.
Mendoza, ranked #5 in the nation, was defeated by #8 Timothy Hood of Cornell 8-4 in the title match. De La Cruz lost 15-2 to #4 Jame Locke of Coe, and Herman dropped a 13-3 decision to #5 Alex Burkle of Coe.
Bonte advanced to the semifinals before being defeated 3-1 by #4 Joe Hambleton of Cornell, who went on to claim the individual title. Bonte defeated #7 Joe Favia of Stevens Institute of Technology 8-2 in the quarterfinals and also defeated him in the third place match 5-2.
Windquist had the busiest day wrestling eight times, en route to his fifth place finish. He completed the day with a mark of 6-2.
The Norse return to dual meet competition Thursday, Jan. 19, when they will travel to #1 Wartburg College. This match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
