Luther ran its win streak to seven after sweeping UW-Stout this afternoon here in Decorah.

Luther exploded for 13 runs on 15 hits en route to a 13-1 victory in five innings in game one. The Norse tallied nine runs in the second inning that included a three-run home run by Abby Christian. The Norse scored four more times in the fourth highlighted by a three-run home run by pinch hitter Kelsey Bies.

Becca Girvan (12-2) allowed just two hits, one a home run by Alison Gray in the fourth, en route to the victory. 

Kelsey Weindruch drove in the game winning run with a double in the bottom of the sixth. Weindruch drove in Kayla Hatting who pinch ran for Christian, who started the frame with a double to left field. Christian who was 2-for-3, gave the Norse a 3-2 lead in the first inning following her second three-run home run of the afternoon.

Sarah Briggs (2-0) was credited with the victory. Briggs took over in the fourth and pitched four scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out three.

Today's victories gives Luther an overall record of 19-3. UW-Stout who entered the day with a six-game win streak fell to 8-10.

The Norse return to Iowa Conference action on Wednesday, April 4 when they will host the Duhawks of Loras College. This twin bill will begin at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be video streamed.
