Luther improved to 6-8 in the Iowa Conference after sweeping Cornell College 4-1, 14-0 this afternoon here in Decorah. Luther scored 15 or its 18 runs this afternoon with two outs.
In game one, Augie Lindmark (6-1) allowed one run on seven hits en route to the victory on the mound.
The Norse scored two runs in the first and two more in the sixth. Chris Reynolds, Chris Erikson, Ryan Bahnemann and Kevin Bradley all drove in a run. Reynolds was 2-for-4 and scored twice from the lead-off position. Erikson, who batted second, was 3-for-4.
In the nightcap, the Norse scored 14 runs on 12 hits. Seven of the runs were unearned as the Rams committed three errors.
After giving up a lead-off walk in the third inning, the Norse pitching staff retired the next 15 batters. Alec Knop (3-2) got the start on the mound and gave up one hit in five innings of work.
The two victories leveled Luther's overall record to 15-15. Cornell fell to 5-9 in league play, 8-22 overall.
The two teams will finish the three-game series tomorrow morning when they will play a nine inning game starting at 11:00 a.m.
