Luther posted its first conference victory of the year this afternoon in the Regents Center, defeating Buena Vista University 64-57. Trailing 33-31 at halftime, the Norse put together a 20-3 run in the first nine minutes of the second half, en route to handing the Beavers their first conference loss of the year.
Taylor Johnson led the Norse with a double-double. Johnson poured in a career high 29 points and collected a game high 14 rebounds. Johnson missed just eight shots the entire afternoon connecting on 12 of 20 attempts.
Logan Hjerleid and Rachel Stenhaug also tallied double digits with 14 an 10 respectively. Hjerleid matched her career high established against Central College last season Feb. 5.
Buena Vista was led by Brooke Wehle with 16, Jessica Chistensen with 11 and Laura Hilby with 10.
The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 1-3, 4-9 overall. Buena Vista is now 3-1 in league play, 8-5 overall.
The Norse will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, when they will host Coe College at 6:00 p.m. This game will be video streamed.
