Luther is one win away from earning its third consecutive trip to the NCAA III National Softball Championships. This afternoon, the Norse defeated UW-River Falls 1-0 and are now the only undefeated team in the Pella Regional.
Lauran Snyder drove in the game winner in the first inning with a single to left field that scored Shari Huber. Huber led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kelsey Weindruch.
Becca Girvan (28-4) allowed just three hits en route to the victory in the circle. Girvan pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the first and a one out, tying run on third situation in the the third.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 39-6. River Falls is now 32-14.
Luther awaits the winner of tomorrow's first game between Coe and UW-River Falls that is scheduled to begin at Noon. The winner will turn around and play Luther at 2:00 p.m. Norse fans can hear all the action via audio stream.
