Luther improved to 3-0 on its spring trip and 14-7 overall with an 8-1 win over Colorado College in the second of two matches played today. The Norse had swept Oglethorpe 9-0 this morning.
For the second straight match, Luther jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles spots. Cami Czech and Katie Howe rolled to an (8-4) win over Deanna Thirkell and Mary Edman at No. 1. Cassandra Chalhoub and Lola White-Baer won by an identical (8-4) score at No. 2, defeating Katie Patterson and Caila Criss. Katy Lindstrom and Elise Allen continued to perform well, winning (8-2) against Maggie Harwood and Maddie Bush at No. 3.
Several of the singles matches were competitive, but the Norse won in straight sets at the bottom five flights to earn the team victory. Allen was even at 5-5 in the opening set before rattling off eight straight games to earn a (7-5, 6-0) decision at No. 2 against Patterson. Chalhoub maintained her perfect mark for the week with a (6-3, 6-3) win over Criss at No. 3 as did White-Baer with a (6-3, 6-2) win against Edman at No. 4. Howe held on to defeat Harwood (6-2, 7-5) at No. 5 and DePaolis won for the second time on the day, edging Anna Sweeney (6-4, 6-3) at No. 6. Czech dropped her match to Thirkell in a third set super tie-breaker (2-6, 6-2, (10-4)) at No. 1.
