The Norse traveled to the Loras Midweek Invitational this afternoon. No team scores were kept.
Andrew Papke-Larson, Marty Mitchell and Elliott Scheck posted Luther top-10 performances. Papke-Larson (14:53.50) and Mitchell (15:04.81) finished third and seventh respectively in the 5,000. Papke-Larson's time ranks third all-time and Mitchell's ranks seventh. Scheck placed ninth in the hammer throw (116-0) with a distance that ranks ninth on the all-time list.
Other top running performances by the Norse included a second place finish by Nick Clark in the 100. Clark was clocked at 10.96 and was edged by Brad Vogel of Simpson in the finals who crossed the line in 10.95. Sam Stokes-Cerkvinek won the 400 (56.55) and Cole Hocked was third in the 200 (23.35).
Joel Clark (15.14) posted the fastest time in the 100 hurdle prelims but did not compete in the finals. Jordan Humpal (15.62) also qualified for the finals of this event and finished second.
In the field events, Josh Humpal won the shot put (48-6 1/4), was third in the hammer throw (140-9) and was fourth in the discus (133-5). He already ranks second all-time in the hammer (149-11) established last season.
Derek Mueller, who posted the second best mark in Luther history in the triple last week, placed third with a mark of 37-6 1/2. Tom Lundberg (11-8 1/2) and Mueller (9-8 1/2) finished second and third respectively in the pole vault.
Luther returns to action on Saturday, April 14 when it will host the Norse Relays. Both the field and running events will begin at Noon.
