Luther defeated Cornell College 5-1 in the conference opener for both clubs this afternoon in Mount Vernon. The victory was the second in a row for Norse who increased their overall record to 3-4.
Dani Meirick returned to the field after missing the last four matches due to an injury and scored the game winner in the 41st minute unassisted. Meirick's goal was her second of the year.
Kendra Ledel continued to play well scoring her team best sixth and seventh goals of the year. Ledel scored the first goal of the match at 10:28 assisted by Kirsten Stevens. She also scored Luther's third goal of the afternoon at 54:47 assisted by Paige Ofstedahl.
The Norse will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they will host UW-Eau Claire at 3:00 p.m. This match will be video streamed weather permitting.
