The Luther women’s tennis team finished off a perfect day with a 9-0 sweep over Simpson after defeating Central by the same score earlier in the morning. It is the seventh 9-0 win of the fall season for the Norse, who improved to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the IIAC with the win. Luther has also clinched the No. 2 seed for the upcoming IIAC team tournament this weekend.
Lola White-Baer and Katie Howe were sharp again at No. 3 doubles, winning (8-0) over Lindsay Nash and Lynae Gruber. Elise Allen and Katy Lindstrom were (8-3) winners at No. 2 doubles, defeating Mikayla Struebing and Lauren Schmmel to make it 2-0 in Luther’s favor. Cami Czech and Cassandra Chalhoub made it 3-0 with a hard earned (8-5) win over Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson at No. 1.
White-Baer did not drop a single game against the Storm, winning (6-0, 6-0) over Gruber at No. 5 singles. Howe beat Schmmel (6-0, 6-1) at No. 6 in another impressive showing. Czech and Chalhoub also each only dropped one game on the way to lopsided victories. Czech beat Struebing (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 while Chalhoub defeated Bost (6-1, 6-0) at No. 2. Allen won her match at No. 3, beating Anderson (6-1, 6-2). Allen remains unbeaten in dual meet action with an 11-0 mark. Lindstrom held off Nash (6-4, 6-3) at No. 4 to finish out the meet.
As the No. 2 seed, the Norse will await the winner of Cornell (No. 3 seed) and Simpson (No. 6) seed in the semi-final round of action. Coe has earned the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of Wartburg (No. 4 seed) and Central (No. 5 seed) in the other semi-final match-up.
